Diving in Liguria - Portovenere near La Spezia

Starting from San Terenzo (La Spezia), you will board a rubber boat to explore one of the most spectacular diving spots in Liguria, located in the protected marine area of Portovenere and the Gulf of Poets. This exciting diving in Liguria experience reveals steep rocks, rich sea beds, and an incredible abundance of species. During your dive, you may encounter octopuses, fish shoals, red gorgonian corals, posidonia seaweed fields, barracudas, crayfish, murays, and more. The underwater world here offers a true immersion in unique flora and fauna.

You will meet your instructor in San Terenzo, near Lerici, where the equipment is provided along with an introduction to the activity. From there, a rubber boat will bring you to Portovenere and its Marine Protected Area (MPA), near La Spezia, where your adventure begins.

Important: A valid Level 1 diving certification is required to join this experience.

Unfortunately not. For organizational reasons, you must come to the school in San Terenzo first; from there, the group leaves for Portovenere by rubber boat.

If I come by car, where can I park?

There are small parking areas above San Terenzo (Bagnara parking or Milano parking). We recommend parking there, as only residents are allowed to park inside the village.

If I have luggage or personal belongings, where can I leave them?

If the sea is rough or the weather conditions are not ideal, is the tour canceled?

Which public transport can I take?

The train doesn’t reach San Terenzo, but you can take the “L” bus from La Spezia. You’ll receive all the details upon confirmation.

Will the equipment be provided by the school?
