A unique experience to get in touch with the most famous marble of the world. You will be picked up by a 4×4 jeep in Carrara and driven up to the impressive marble quarries.
With the Land Rover Defender jeep you’ll be travelling on, we can even reach the higher quarries, up to 1000 metres above sea level! Up there your guide will explain how the extraction techniques have changed from the romans’ era to nowadays. There is also the possibility to visit the quarry from which Michelangelo chose the marble to sculpt his masterpieces.
At the end, we couldn’t ignore one of the most important feature of the cavers’ diet! So enjoy a little visit to a lard factory, where you will taste the famous Lardo di Colonnata.
