The magic of the ancient ships resumes in the new hall of the Naval Museum of Spezia

A casket of rarity, combining the beauty of many of its finds with a very high historical value: it is the Naval Technical Museum of La Spezia, a must-see for those who spend their vacations in the area due to the quality of their pieces, some of them unique. To make it even more interesting to visitors, the newly opened Sala delle Polene, which inaugurated a collection very rarely: 29 sculptures that over the centuries were placed on the bow of ships that sailed the seas all over the world were grouped into a structure that captures fantasy and arouses the admiration of tourists and residents. An installation that is faithful to the natural environment of those ships (called “polene”), placed on vertical supports able to recall their original placement and guaranteeing a striking and an unparalleled glance. Mythological, allegorical figures, as well as portraits of historical people really existed: from Princess Sissi to the legendary Atlanta, eyes, nostrils, and glances emerge behind each other, recalling distant stories that are plain, adventurous, and fatigued. To make possible the renovation, the collaboration between Marina Militare and Sovraintendenza, with the funding of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the participation from the Cantiere Navale Sanlorenzo, which made available to the Naval Technical Museum an Art Bonus of 120 thousand euros. But it does not end here: there is great anticipation for the submarine Leonardo Da Vinci, which in 2019 will enrich the proposal of the Museum, further increasing its charm and suggestions.
