Today is an important day for Vernazza and Cinque Terre.
Indeed, today Monday 16th January 2012, the railway station of Vernazza is open to all again.
Hard damaged by the dramatic flood on last Oct, 25th, the railway station has been restored in the first days after the flood because it’s in the line Genoa-Rome: after its restore on the last days of October and the beginning of November 2011, the use of the station has been limited for security reasons only to residents and rescue teams.
Today, after 2 month and half, Vernazza is finally reachable for everyone by train: this represents another great and important step to a gradual return to the normality that we all hope can happen as soon as possible.
For sure, there’s still a lot of things to do and it’s still difficult make a prevision about when Vernazza will be ready for tourism again but, at the same time, enjoy this good news!
