Yesterday, it has been the “day after” the terrible flood that hit the eastern part of Liguria and in particular mode, in the Cinque Terre, the villages of Vernazza and Monterosso.
Rescuers and volunteers, together with the inhabitants, have worked hardly for all the day to start and clean the two villages.
Actually, the coordination of the operations is in La Spezia and in Santo Stefano Magra, from where depart the boats with equipments, tools, food, supplies.
During the day has arrived also the Italian Army with the Protezione Civile and the Firemen: for this reason, the Mayor of La Spezia made a press release in which informed all other volunteers to give up, for the moment, to not create further trouble.
“Collection points” has been organized in the Region: in the city of Genoa (address: Corso Gastaldi, at C.R.I.), in La Spezia and Santo Stefano.
After this first day of hard work, there are some positive news:
– highway A15 called “della Cisa” has been re-opened (only the exit of Aulla is closed yet)
– the railway line, sea-side, between Monterosso and Corniglia has been re-opened: it will help the rescuers and then also the passengers to reach the villages. At the moment, it seems that the trains won’t stop for passegers in Vernazza, to avoid the risk of “jackals” (robbers).
Unfortunately, there have been already 2 arrests in the last day for this reason.
– with some difficulties but the mobile phones seem to work again (with Telecom Italia – TIM).
There will be further updates.
