5 Tips for a safe travel to the Cinque Terre in 2021
For the moment summer 2021 is still expected to be similar to 2020, there will be greater internal and european tourism, the need for safety and sanitation in both transport and accommodation and certainty of reimbursement in case of need or sudden changes related to the health situation. Destinations more in contact with nature are preferred, partly to fill a gap caused by long closures and prohibitions, partly to be able to distance oneself more effectively.
The Cinque Terre can be the perfect destination to satisfy the desire for nature, and thanks to the wide choice of paths you can meet few people, enjoying the tranquility and clean air. In fact, in addition to the paths that connect the 5 villages (which we will discuss in depth in this article), there are a whole series of higher paths, which pass through the sanctuaries of the Cinque Terre or even arrive on the ridge of the mountain, where you meet the ‘AV5T, the high route of the Cinque Terre. Needless to talk about the views that can be enjoyed from these altitudes, it is certain that you need to be at least a little trained to support a day of trekking in “height”.
In the Cinque Terre, the desire for the sea, clean and blue, is also very well satisfied. The small flaw is the scarcity of beaches, even the spaces to lie down and sunbathe are a bit restricted in the Cinque Terre, also reducing the possibility of distancing yourself properly. Since last year there has been a real boom in demand for private boats, which are the best solution to enjoy the sea alone and in peace: for example, 2 or 3 hour boat tours are available, the right time to see the Cinque Terre from the sea and drink an aperitif on the boat or take a swim. But there are half-day or full-day excursions as well, to enjoy this experience longer . The boats are of various sizes, suitable for a couple or a group of friends, and of various types, from motorboats, to sailboats or even yachts. Finally, transport. Usually most travelers make use of the Cinque Terre express, the train connecting the towns that from April to the end of October ensures about 2 or 3 trips every hour. If you think about the car because you do not feel safe on the train, please consider that in high season there are few and all paid parking spaces. For this reason, driving around the Cinque Terre by car becomes very uncomfortable, as well as expensive.
A different and nice solution could be to rent an electric vespa in La Spezia and leave for the Cinque Terre. Scooters can park for free. The cost of the Vespa for the whole day is only 60 €!
