Many people are wondering about which is the best airport to fly into for Cinque Terre: well, if you’re travelling to the Cinque Terre by plane, you can choose between several airports. The closest is Pisa Airport (99 km, about 1h15’ by car from Cinque Terre); then, there’s the Genoa International Airport (127 km, about 1h 45’ from Cinque Terre). Really far from Cinque Terre is the Malpensa Milan Airport (285 km; 3h by car from Cinque Terre).
All these airports have good connections to the railways station: from Pisa Airport you can easily reach the Pisa Centrale railways station and then take a local train to the Cinque Terre. Please note that, usually, you have to change train in La Spezia Centrale (there are few direct solutions from Pisa to the Cinque Terre).
The same at Genoa Airport where you can take the Airport Bus (“Volabus”) to get to the Genova Principe railways station and then a local train to the Cinque Terre: you don’t have to change train travelling from Genoa Airport to the Cinque Terre.
Major airline companies (Alitalia, Lufthansa, Delta, Iberia) and several low cost (such as Ryanair, Easyjet) operate in both these airports making easy your connections coming from Europe or Italy.
