Pontremoli, named in the Middle Ages as “unique key and getaway” to Tuscany, is located along the pilgrimage route Via Francigena, and boasts medieval bridges, towers and the imposing castle as well as beautifully Baroque frescoed churches and private mansions. Kick off the day with a special treat at the liberty 1800s Caffè degli Svizzeri.
Visit the historic medieval centre walking up as far as the imposing Piagnaro Castle for beautiful views over the town and the rivers. Guided visit to the Castle and the Museum of Stele Statues, sandstone statues sculpted into male and female figures dating back to the Prehistoric Era. We complete our trip back in time with an exclusive visit to a private Baroque mansion boasting stunning frescoes.

Meeting: 9:00 or 10:00, Piazza della Repubblica or Pontremoli train station.
Tour ends approx. 12:30 / 13:30.
*If travelling by train: train 8:10 or 9:27 am from La Spezia. Meet the tour guide at the train station.
Price (min 2 – max 12 people): 70 euro per person + 8/10 euro for coffee and cakes, entry fees to the Castle, Museum and private mansion.
