This picturesque old roman fishermen´s village is located at the western entrance of the Gulf of La Spezia (Gulf of Poets). Its coloured, narrow and high houses, the genoan fortress and the old little church St. Pietro enchant its visitors. The village is located directly on the sea framed by the three little Islands Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto.

Portovenere is easily reachable from La Spezia by car. Further there are frequently running busses and boats from La Spezia. By ferry there is also a connection to the Cinque Terre. A small sandy beach is facing Palmaria, the little island which invites with interesting hiking paths and small beaches. Portovenere has many good restaurants, nice shops, a post office, an ATM.
